| Filling the doorway. the vampire blocked everything out except him. Mariah's hand flew to her throat. Warm, black-brown hair, tied back with a silver band, fell past his broad shoulders. Elegantly dressed in a black silk shirt, black trousers, wing tipped shoes, and a long, black leather trench coat, the vampire's hot, smoldering gaze grew amused by her reaction to his unexpected presence. "Miss Jordan." A dark eyebrow rose and devilish amusement lightened the harsh beauty of his handsome features. His sculptured mouth relaxed in a sexy-half smile as she continued to stare at him, her jaw dropped. Memories of last night flooded back, and Mariah gaped at the sinfully gorgeous vampire. "You bit me!" The words came out of her mouth before she had time to censure them. The vampire had the grace to flush at her accusation. Amazed the memory erasure had not held, Rathe grimaced. "I truly am sorry about my overzealous actions last night. It was not my intent to harm you." "I drank your blood," she whispered, horrified by the revelation. "I could not allow you to die. You are the light of my salvation," he replied with a helpless shrug of his broad shoulder. |
